Parish Information and Updates Due to the Coronavirus Crisis

Hours Church Will Be Open For Personal Prayer

March 21, 2020
Dear faithful parishioners of Holy Epiphany!
With God's help, we had have so far a calm week. Our livestream of services works!

All regular services will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel. Services will begin at regular times. The doors of the church will be locked during services.

God willing, tomorrow, March 22, (the Sunday of the Cross) the church will be open for to the public for personal prayer between 1 to 6 p.m. I will be at the church. Due to the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves and feeling responsible for each of you and the parish, I ask that the following rules be observed:

  1. Plan on staying no more than 15 minutes.
  2. Icons and the cross do not need to be kissed. Do three prostrations before icons and then light your candles, this will suffice. This is not out of a lack of faith or belief someone can get sick from venerating icons, but in order to prevent needless temptations and useless conversations that only distract from what is most important at this time: prayer and repentance.
  3. Due to the statistical data that 8 out of every 10 deaths from this virus in the United States have been 65 or older, I strongly suggest that those who are 65 or older avoid coming while we do not know the extent of this epidemic.
    1. See: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/high-risk-complications/older-adults.html
  4. Do not use public transportation to arrive at church.
  5. If the number of people in church approaches 20 people (the legal limit is 25), we will ask you to wait in your car.
  6. If you are sick, even with mild cold symptoms, stay home.

I hope that with a large window of 5 hours, this will be a good opportunity for many to receive spiritual comfort and strength at our holy church during this especially trying Great Lent period. Do not despair! With prayer, fasting and repentance this spiritual test will pass.

God bless!
Prot. Victor Boldewskul
